The Carpenter from Nazareth

Why even believe in the dead Carpenter from Nazareth?

*He was born homeless, in dire poverty. His first bed was an animal’s trough.

*Later, he earned a living as a lowly carpenter in the small town of Nazareth.

*Around age 30, he felt called to ministry, to preach his Father’s Good News.

*Three years later, his ministry was an apparent failure, and he was nailed to a tree between two thieves on a Friday, many call Good. His friends betrayed, denied, and deserted him.

*This blog is about the God/man–Yeshua bar Yosef–This Carpenter from Nazareth.

The Carpenter’s WORD… Yesterday, Today, & Tomorrow FOR ALL PEOPLE!

So…Why Blog About Him?

By the name of this website, you can tell I’m going to be blogging about someone whom many in this world refer to as Jesus of Nazareth. His Aramaic name is Yeshua bar Yosef & Maryam, although in ancient times, the mother’s name was not attached.

Today, many call Him Son of God, the Christ, the Messiah, the Light of the World, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, and many other names. My favorite has always been the Christ. However, in my writings, I will also use some of His other names.

Now, you who are reading this may be asking, “Okay, much has been written about this Jesus of Nazareth over two millennia. Why this now? Why a blog?  Great questions.

Why now? My opinion–Many of us have forgotten the Good News He preached to all. We live in a world engulfed by technology and items on social media, much of it dark. I want us to remember the LIGHT.

Why a Blog? Again, my opinion, because the written word ‘lasts.’ Images, videos, podcasts, and the like will be seen and heard today, but gone tomorrow. Heck, we can still read Virgil’s Aeneid and Homer’s Odyssey, written in antiquity. I think that is still pretty cool.

Many of the books in the Bible, some written more than 2,000 years ago, were penned by men and women like you and me. Some better, some worse. All were flawed. All were human; thus, all at one time most likely strayed from their faith in the divine.

My goal in this blog is to introduce you to this Carpenter from Nazareth from a different perspective.

I want you to meet the Christ. To encounter Him as God and man, and maybe at the beginning of this journey, meet more of the latter than the former.

Before His ministry, He lived for a long time with His parents in the town of Nazareth in northern Israel. His dad was a carpenter, a blue-collar guy, a laborer. Like many in our world today, this family lived day to day, week to week, month to month, just making ends meet. Thus, this Carpenter from Nazareth was and still is someone most can relate to.

Finally, you should know, I am a ‘no one’ writing about the divine. I’m a 73-year-old man, a recovering alcoholic. I’m like the Prodigal Son, who, after many years, “went off to a distant country.” I strayed from my family, my God, my faith, my country, my everything. Later in life, I discovered that I was the one who left my God. God never left me. Yet we know Peter the Fisherman denied Him, Judas the Treasurer betrayed Him, and the others deserted Him… so maybe I’m in good company, eh?

I pray this journey brings us both closer to HOME. Not our home, here on this planet, but the home, at least for today, we cannot see. The house where the Carpenter from Nazareth still resides and awaits us with open arms, because He loves us.

Let this journey begin…
